Our Purpose
A Brief Guide to the Purpose, Scope and Activities of Christian Watch.
First of all you may ask why do we need Christian Watch?
Are there not enough organisations doing various good works for Christianity?
Are we not duplicating what they are doing?
Below we explain why there is a need for Christian Watch and how we operate.
It is a plain fact that the Protestant Reformed faith is under threat as never before from various sources
including atheism, Romanism and Islam.
Sadly, many ministers choose to take a neutral stance on virtually every issue
so that they do not offend others or jeopardise their own positions. The Lord Jesus Christ
did not preach to please all His hearers and neither did His disciples. We pray that these ministers
may be really converted, as was Paul of Tarsus, enabling them to be faithful preachers of the
gospel.
How many times have we heard prayers offered, bemoaning the state of our nation?
Why is the church NOT active today?
Why is the church NOT taking the gospel out to the people in the streets?
Why is the church NOT opposing the evil in their communities?
Why is the church NOT providing more practical support for the brethren across the world who ARE
doing the Lord's work and being IMPRISONED for it?
Does your heart burn to do something in the Lord's service? Do you desire to stand
unashamedly for the Lord's cause and for the gospel, but no leadership is given? This is
why Christian Watch endeavours to gather together like-minded men and women across the
nation who have a concern to serve the Lord in promoting and defending His cause.
Christian Watch is concerned about the state of our nation. In Britain we now have
all manner of evils being permitted and promoted by our government, including devil worship
and paganism. As Christians it is our duty to contend against ungodly legislation.
But a lot more can be done, with the Lord’s help, by the establishment of
Local Contact Groups. By these means we
have the ideal facility for swift lobbying and local action, plus the means for
promoting the Word of God.
Our desire is to contend for the Protestant reformed Christian faith which is in
accordance with the Aims of Christian Watch and our
Statement of Faith, as summarised by the following:
-
To be a bulwark against further declension from the old paths.
-
To adhere to the boundaries as laid down by the Word of God alone and defined
by the great Protestant Confessions of Faith.
-
To seek adherence to the AV1611 Bible as being the most accurate translation of the scriptures
into the English language.
-
To expose the failings of modern Bible translations and their link with the spiritual
declension in so many churches today.
-
To lobby in support of other true Christians who are under persecution and to act in support
of other organisations and ministries who are specifically working in the areas concerned.
-
To appropriately lobby when national governments threaten Christian freedom or biblical
standards of morality by the introduction of ungodly legislation.
-
To lobby against "wolves in sheep's clothing" such as ministers of local churches
who openly support godless lifestyles as being acceptable.
-
To expose dangerous teachings such as the Alpha Course and the "manifestations" of the Toronto "Blessing".
-
To expose the "big names" in neo-evangelicalism who embrace Roman Catholic doctrines and who promote
the false theory of evolution, for example. This would include those who have signed up to the
Evangelical Alliance and Catholics Together.
-
To expose the dangers of the "Churches Together" movement and point out how the heretical bible - the
"Nearly Good News" version has been promoted as being "good" by the Archbishop Of Canterbury and
some other church leaders.
-
To be a Watchman and give a warning cry at the erosion of our Christian liberties whenever
this may occur. Some examples are:
- In the United Kingdom we are under threat from a godless European Union promoted
strongly by the Roman Catholic hierarchy. Also, from humanist-socialist fascism which is evident
in our national government, the media and in education.
-
In Nigeria, Protestants are under threat from militant Islamic expansion and persecution as well as
false Christianity prompted by Reinhardt Bhonke and his mass hysteria "crusades".
-
In the USA, our colleagues are under threat, by wicked legislation designed to prosecute and persecute
Christians who dare to preach the gospel in public and to stand up against evil.
