PORTSMOUTH OPEN-AIR WITNESSING
REPORT: 29TH JUNE 2013

An Open Air Witness was held on a lovely warm sunny day in Portsmouth City Centre, when I teamed up with Jim, Malcolm and Rick who came from the local Grace Baptist Church.   As soon as I put up the Christian Watch table, two young men began to speak to Rick about a tract on evolution.  Rick spoke with them for quite a while about their need of Jesus, but they were not so pleased when Jim began preaching and telling people that they needed to repent.

Jim and Malcolm took it in turns to preach, and there were a lot of people sitting nearby listening.  Malcolm was able to talk to a man selling balloons, dressed in bright colours, who was of French origin.

We met a Jewish man who was keen to share his views about the End Times and spoke to a young lady whose brother had died and she was questioning why God allows people to suffer.

Jim and Malcolm had a good conversation with a man from a Middle Eastern background, whilst Rick conversed for some time with a man from a Charity Organisation.

I met a man called Sparky in a mobility scooter and spoke to him about the Lord Jesus Christ and asked him if he had a Bible.  He was quite willing to take one. I was also able to give him a CD about Heaven and Hell, compiled by Pastor John Saunders, which he promised to listen to.

We had opposition with people passing by shouting out “Rubbish”, but we also met Christians who commended and encouraged us in our work.

A few foreign tracts were distributed, as well as some AV children’s colouring/puzzle books.

This was a good Open Air witness, and we pray that God will bring forth fruit following the faithful preaching of His Word to those who passed by.

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”  (Isaiah 55:11)
